Thumbs — Privacy Policy

Thumbs is a phone app for culling photo shoots pushed from the Thumbs plugin for Adobe Lightroom Classic. The short version: the app has no accounts, collects no personal information, and runs no analytics. This page describes everything the app and its cloud service touch.

What the app stores, and where

• Pairing token. Connecting the app to Lightroom uses a 6-character code shown on your computer, valid for ten minutes and usable once. Claiming it gives your phone a random access token, stored only on your phone. It is not linked to your name, email, or any other identity — we never ask for any of those.
• Photo previews. When you send a shoot from Lightroom, the plugin uploads reduced-size JPEG previews to the cloud. Your phone downloads them to display and caches them on the device so shoots work offline. Original photo files never leave your computer.
• Your decisions. Swiping records a keep/reject verdict and optional star rating per photo. These sync to the cloud so Lightroom can fetch them back into your catalog, and they are also what your culling totals are counted from. They contain nothing but the verdict, the rating, and the photo's catalog identifier.

What never leaves your phone

• The built-in demo shoot is bundled with the app and works without any connection or pairing.
• The “try your own photos” mode reads photos you pick from your camera roll and displays them locally. Nothing is uploaded — those photos never leave the phone.

Retention and deletion

• A shoot and its previews are kept in the cloud for 90 days after the last activity, then deleted automatically.
• You can delete a shoot at any time from the app or from Lightroom; both remove its previews from the cloud immediately.
• After a shoot is deleted or expires, a small record of it remains: the shoot's name, how many photos it held, and which of them you kept, rejected or starred — never the photos themselves. It is what lets the app show you your own culling totals over time, so it is kept indefinitely, until you delete the plugin's account.
• Deleting the plugin's account (from Lightroom) removes every shoot, preview, verdict, record, and token associated with it.

What we don't do

• No accounts, emails, names, or passwords — pairing codes are the entire identity system.
• No analytics, tracking, advertising, or cookies in the app.
• No selling or sharing of any data with anyone.

Infrastructure

The cloud service runs on Cloudflare (Workers, D1, R2), with data stored in Western Europe. Cloudflare processes network requests to serve them, and request IP addresses are used transiently for abuse-rate limiting; we keep no log of them. Desktop plugin licences are sold and processed by Lemon Squeezy under their privacy policy; the app itself has no purchase flow and no knowledge of the buyer.
